2. Sandra E. Eddy's HTML in Plain English (MIS Press, 1997) is an AZ guide to all the standard HTML tags.
3. Web Page Builder's Resources Online at http://www.nowonline.com/resources.html offers an extensive list of HTML editors, Web sources for HTML help, Web sites for help with HTML and Web sites with free art for Web pages.
4. Builder.com at http://www.cnet.com/Content/Builder/ is C|net's Web design area and is an extensive and excellent collection of resources, interviews and reviews of current Web site building tools.
5. The Webmaster's Reference Library at http://www.Webreference.com/ is an up-to-date collection of articles and resources for professional Web designers. However, there is much of value for newcomers to Web design here as well.

7. The Web Developer Virtual Library at http://www.stars.com/ includes articles by leading Web designers and programmers, as well as an extensive list of resources and links.
8. Project Cool: Anyone Can Build a Great Website! at http://www.projectcool.com/ provides an index of the best-designed sites on the Web. Its philosophy is that if you want to build great Web sites, you first have to look at great Web sites.
9. Jennifer Niederst's Designing for the World Wide Web (O'Reilly, 1996) provides the basics you need to hit the ground running. Although written for graphic designers, it covers information and techniques useful to anyone who wants to write for the Web. It is especially relevant for those working on Macintosh computers.
10. Crystal Waters's Web Concept and Design: A Comprehensive Guide for Creating Effective Web Sites (New Riders Publishing, 1996) is an excellent overview for beginners. Waters gives a quick and colorful overview of the main issues in Web design. She has a Web site at http://www.typo.com/.
